Most smaller ones are canceled. Is the symphony one downtown good? Where to park to watch?

I've never been to the Symphony downtown because I live up north and get to see the fireworks at the Quarries from my front yard.
I have had lots of friends who love to head downtown early with a couple of lawn chairs or old blanket, and a cooler full of picnic grub. They usually park somewhere near Zilker park, and find a spot near the water for a great view.
I've always wanted to head up to the top of the lookout over the 360 bridge, or Mt. Bonnell for a great overall view of the entire city.

The Symphony plays at Auditorium Shores, in front of the Long Center. Park in the Long Center parking garage, sit out front. Symphony plays at 8:30, fireworks at 9:30. More details:

Where in Austin is the most popular, free, and family friendly place to watch a Big firework display on the 4th? What is the one at the Quarry like, and what time does it start? Thanks In Advance....I just dont see very much said about where to go and watch displays, and this will be my 1st July 4 in Austin so I'm kinda clueless...Thanks So Much!
