Are there any recommendations on water activities in or near Austin? It would be nice if it's kid friendly and no more than an hour drive.

Thanks!

The first thing we did when we relocated to Central Texas was to buy ourselves season passes to Schlitterbahn water park in New Braunfels - we love it and go about once a week

I love schlitterbahn but it's always too busy. Have you noticed any trends of the best time to go as someone who's there that frequently?

Austin is almost ALL water related activities. The greenbelt alone can keep you busy for months.

We lean towards the middle of the week, Tues/Wed. We prefer the older park and don't generally visit the park with the tower rides until very late in the day. We also love the Falls where once in, you never have to get out if you don't want to
In order to secure a picnic table we always arrive about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes prior to the park opening.
The weekends in April and May were great, very few crowds and we assume that September may be the same. In June, July and August we go mid week

How about a nice bike ride or walk to your nearby local pool for free:

Obviously, Barton Springs, Deep Eddy and watercraft rentals along Town Lake.

Emma Long Metro Park on Lake Austin too.

Take Loop 1 to the Barton Creek Mall exit. If you're coming north, make a left at the light, and at the next light make another left. If you coming South, go straight through the light. Park somewhere in amongst all the other cars. Find the path (there will be a sign and a wide opening). Follow the path all the way to the creek. It's a pretty cool spot!
