Yarbrough Dr Austin, TX 78748.

what is the area called? does it have great schools? how is it compared to say steiner ranch, canyon creek, avery ranch etc?

it looks like it may not be master planned community.

The area would more compare to Canyon Creek than to Steiner or Avery Ranch. It's not "master planned". The "area" is considered Shady Hollow. There are still individual subdivision names within the area, and each is separate to it's own extent. If you're actually "in" Shady Hollow, there is a community pool and such that the other home owners wouldn't have access to. Anyone can go to the parks since they're not gated off.

Ages of homes range from the 80's to the 2000's. Some are updated, many are not. Drive Brodie a few times during peak hours to make sure you won't be pulling your hair out everyday, as it's the main way in and out. It can get crowded....

If you're working at 183/Cameron, why on earth would you want to live down there?

If that statement is correct the OP definitely would not want to live way down there. It is a good neighborhood with good schools, some properties in the area have huge yards. The only down side I can think of is that currently a lot of traffic from South of there, Hays County, is using Brodie Lane to get over to MoPac, Loop 1, with results in heavy traffic on Brodie Lane during rush hour.

The neighborhood is currently struggling with the anti-development Austin city council and county to try and get some highway improvements made, to extend SH 45 over to IH-35 to take that traffic off of Brodie Lane. But there are a lot of political games being played by those on the City Council that oppose development over the Edwards Aquifer that is in that area.
