An acquaintance mentioned something to me about some kind of safari or camp with animals in Dripping Springs. I did a web search and found nothing. Does anyone know if there is such a thing in the Dripping Springs area?

Not johnson city, but in the general direction: The Serengeti Resort, Event Center and Wine Tasting. Bergheim, Texas.

I stayed here for a night and really, really liked it. You can drive around in golf carts and feed the zebra's (who bite, btw. I hate HATE zebras), camels (who are pushy but loveable), antelope of various types, giraffes (who are shy), and a bunch of other animals. They have scimitar antelope, which now only exist in Texas after being hunted to extinction in Africa.

If you are talking about the scimitar oryx, they exist in captivity in other places, as well, I believe.

Zoo populations of these desert antelope are thriving because of cooperation between North American and European zoos. One of the projects in which the Zoo participates is the establishment of a "world herd" genome resource bank.
