Well, that was weird. First I tried using the search feature but it logged me out as usual. Then, when I put in the title of "flooring" I got a warning page saying that title was used in other forums. One was the Austin forum but the question was never answered.

Anyway...looking for a reasonably priced flooring company. Getting rid of some carpet, want an estimage.

Thank you in advance if you know someone.

The most important day in the life of your flooring, is the day it is installed.

Buyer Beware!

Buy your flooring anywhere, but be sure that your investment is installed by a knowledgeable Certified installer.
Not all stores use Certified installation technicians. Make them show you the installers credentials.

Value is not measured in price alone. Beware of the discounted installations, to get your business.

Bent Bow, can you recommend particular installers? PM please. I've got a challenging application for an engineered wood install on an old slab and need to find a serious floor prep enthusiast to make it work.

Thanks Idlewile, I contacted HFS already. Loved the installer but had some problems with their office sales staff and decided against using them.

How were the installers from Floor & Decor? I've thought about doing the same as oldtoiletsmkgdflrpots and replacing my living room carpet and some hallway ceramic tile with engineered wood (or floated hardwoods if that's possible).

My ASID certified DW would beg to differ...as would her satisfied customers.

Unless things have changed recently, Floor & Decor doesn't have installation crews on staff. They will offer recommendations and contact info for independent contractors.

I can tell you of 2 companies I've used, for rental properties. Both are "budget" companies, but also sell some mid-level or better quality stuff if you want to pay for it.

1 - CC Carpet. They've installed engineered wood and carpet for me. Very reasonably priced, and did a good job. Some of the stuff they have installed has been there for 10 plus years, so if there was an install issue I would have known by now.

2 - Home Depot. Got some cheap carpet installed with an additional coupon with them, and the price with all the sale and discount stuff was really inexpensive. The estimator was very thorough, and used high tech tools, which was encouraging... but then the contractors that installed the carpet were average at best. I did have to call them back to re stretch and tack down some corners, which they did without any hassle.
