Hello Friends,

I was just wondering what is best place(city, state) to live in USA.

Situation.
Married, both working in IT/Software, with kids.

I am looking for
1. I want higher and quality education for kids.
2. I want minimum commute time( up-to 30 minutes one way, total 1 hour each day).
3. Ample IT Jobs :better job opportunities in or near by areas, if one of us lose job, should be able to find another job without need of any house move.

Thanks in advance.

Its a regular description, there are plenty of threads so search and suit it for your needs, you may be looking 101 different things like middle school / elementary or high, commute, price for sq ft, community...etc.,

"Most likely" you may be looking at north side of the town.

well there is bunch of cities that have good IT jos.

Research Triangle in North Carolina (that Raleigh–Durham metro).

Austin is pretty good as far IT goes.

Salt Lake city is pretty good as far IT density goes as well.

Dallas also has a good number of opportunities with regards to IT.

but if you want to be really in center of the action you have to be in
Bay Area. but that wont be affordable. and school wont be good or affordable.

Austin has pretty good schools.
I think the same is true for salt lake city.
And Raleigh.

if you a really outdoors guy. I would pick salt lake city over the others.

if you are a nighlight guy, I would pick Austin.

If you're considering the Triangle, Chapel-Hill schools are generally considered to be the best (we relo'd from DC to the Triangle several years ago and initially didn't even consider CH until we learned about the schools).

I would throw in Seattle metro as well. Lots of IT jobs and good schools. Cost of living might be a bit on the higher side than Dallas (or other southern hubs), but so is your income. In the end, income vs taxes and other expenses (utility etc) wise, it all evens out. Mostly it might come down to what kind of geography you would prefer to live in. Good luck!
