How reliable are capital metro bus service? Are they generally on time?

Also, does anyone know if there is any light rail coming in Austin soon, which could connect round rock to downtown and to airport area? Thanks in advance.

Don't know much about the bus service, but to your rail question checkout this link:

All Systems Go Long-Range Transit Plan - CapMetro

so yes, we're getting a new rail service however kinda limited early on..

Yeah. West of 35 gets whatever light rail is coming for at least the first 50-100 years this thing gets going...Then maybe they'll remember that people live East of 35, but by then I won't probably be around or be too old to go anywhere

The capital metro service is very reliable. I take it every day to work, it beats sitting in traffic every morning in your car thats for sure and its very inexpensive.

My brother has not owned a car for ~20 years, and has gotten to work daily (across town for many years) on Cap Metro. He has his issues with them, but reliability is not one of them .

I hope it gets there sooner for ya, roses, but I bet you're right

Leander got the rail because we've been paying into the system for YEARS...voters had a chance to opt out, but we didn't and our mayor was great at getting CAP Metro to keep their end of the bargain. BTW, Cedar Park voters opted out and the rail is passing them by...

Right, Cedar Park area but I think its Austin city limits. I've heard people in parts of Cedar Park complain that the rail stations aren't convenient...I hope that people from all over the area use them. I'm really excited about it.

There is a Cap Metro "express" bus my husband used to ride to and from downtown every weekday. He caught it beside the post office on 290 west. This was the stop after it picked up people at the "Y" in Oak Hill in front of the Gatti Town Pizza place. He loved the convience and price ($10 a month then).

Wow! That's super cheap, I wonder what it is now.

Here in OC, the busses are more for local travel. It would take me nearly 3 hours to get the 20 miles to work where I am now! Glad to know the express bus is an option from Cedar Park to Downtown.
