700-800 budget 1 BR wit W/D or W/D connections. Space isnt a big deal, studio or 1 BR ia fine. I do not really care about amenities. No pets. Looking for the best apt at the best price. Easy access to 183 is a mustbecause I wil e taking it to work in South Austin daily.

Any suggestions?

OK I have to ask, if you're commuting to South Austin why are you considering North/Northwest?

Why on earth are you looking clear on the other side of town?

Because I drive to north Austin almost daily to see family and friends...they ALL live in north Austin. I currently live in Southwest Austin and it takes a toll on gas. It would take me the same amount of time to get to work from this area as it currently does now.

OK, since this is where you want to live, there are a ton of apartments NW. Riata is a very popular complex with lots of amenities, and there are quite a few apartments along Jollyville near the Arboretum. At this point, you might want to enlist the aid of an apartment locator. They're free to use and can suggest complexes that have what you want in your budget. Just keep in mind that occupancy is high right now so not only are rents at a premium, but there are waiting lists for the more popular places. Older places are probably going to be easier to get into and cheaper than the newer ones if you're not too picky.

The only thing I would advise is to be careful of 78758. It's a mixed area - the Domain is really nice but a couple of miles east and you're in one of the seedier areas of town.

There are also many apartments on Great Hills Trail. I know little about them other than I drive by them everyday and they have been there a long time and look well maintained.

Honestly, I'd say look in 78758. It's a couple miles south of the domain, etc. But it will shave a ton of commute time off - 183 bottlenecks a bit right up to Mopac heading south in the AM (and again at 35, but not so bad).

Channings Mark.

Also, High Oaks, Village Oaks, and Canyon Creek. They are all Northland properties.
