I like Casa, they did the HVAC install on our house when it was new and have done maintenance.

Austin HVAC & Plumbing Services - Casa Mechanical Services

There are many good HVAC companies in Austin.

look on-line! I've fixed many things with parts from appliance.com and there are other on-line options too. Not sure who is the best for furnace parts but get the model number and start googling!

ehow is great for videos about how to repair almost anything too!

turns out a lot of places cant sell to the public and many places didnt carry the correct part. Ended up buying from johnstone, the part cost $50. To one of the posters, I obviously could have bought online to save myself $25, but then I wouldnt have a heater while I waited for my package to arrive. Overnighting it would have erased any savings from buying online. Also buying online it is difficult to be 100% certain I ordered the right part. I took the part in and they ensured I got an exact match.

took about 1 hour of initial research and 5 minutes to install it. Saved myself around $200 (the part from a svc company would be about 125 and about 125 for the service call).

I also feel a lot more comfortable around my hvac units now.

The HVAC guys we have had in the past said I was going to have to replace my entire AC system soon because the drip pans are rusting through (not quite yet). Now that I have seen the pans, it seems a little ridiculous. Im going to try to figure out how to repair the pans and save myself the 5K. HVAC is a racket.
