I recently accepted a new job within my company, and will be moving to Austin at the beginning of March. I am a single male 24 year old young professional that will be working in North Austin (I35/Parmer area).

I am looking to live somewhere within a 15 drive of where I work, with other people in my age range that will be close to downtown. Ideally, would be working with ~$1,000/mo in rent though could go higher if need be.

Any guidance on neighborhoods/apartments that you think would be a good fit for me would be greatly appreciated!

There are several other recent threads asking these same questions.

But I will repeat, stay away from Rundberg Lane.

I think that you are going to have to do more of a commute than 15 minutes. You could live near downtown and be within 25 minutes of work if you don't mind dealing with a little traffic. Anything within 15 minutes of I35 and Parmer is not going to be what a young single individual is looking for, in my opinion. Look closer to central Austin and stay west of I35 even though they are gentrifying parts of southeast Austin. And definitely nothing in Quail Hollow, Rundberg area and nothing north of 183 unless you find something in the Domain area that feels okay. I have a friend that lives 78704 area/Travis Heights and works off I35 in Round Rock, sort of a reverse commute that she lives with just fine. Good luck! Just take the time to observe the neighborhoods in day and night hours. Good luck with your move!

Reverse commute or not- driving from 78704 to Round Rock everyday is a sure way to get annoyed with Austin quickly. Also don't discount being north of 183 or going east. Look into the Arboretum area as well.
