My husband and I are relocating back to Austin and looking for a home. We have a 1 year old and would like to find a family friendly neighborhood. Does anyone live in Beecave Woods? If so, do you recommend it? We are looking in West Lake and out in the Lake Travis area. Any neighborhood suggestions are greatly appreciated!

There are a lot of great family friendly neighborhoods in the parts of town you're looking! Senna Hills in Westlake comes to mind immediately. But it depends on what you're looking to spend and what you want in terms of home - style, budget, etc. Parts of Barton Creek West are awesome, Lakepointe just past Senna Hills is nice, lots of choices over there! I don't know anything about Beecave Woods, sorry!

GiGi927 had a lot of good suggestions regarding the general area. I live in Lost Creek which is also in the area and we love it. There are a ton of families with young children and the neighborhood is in the Eanes school district. Beecave Woods is also very nice and it is in a great location. I don't know how many young kids are in the neighborhood though. I think it is zoned to Cedar Creek Elementary which is a great school. I do know that Eanes Elementary is the smallest Elementary which leads me to believe that not as many kids live in the area zoned to Eanes Elementary (it may be bigger now but only because they moved some kids over to it from I believe Bridgepoint). I would not hesitate to buy in Beecave Woods as long as you can find a home that you like in your budget. Keep in mind however, that the houses tend to be more expensive in that neighborhood due to their proximity to the schools and shopping. Therefore, I would suggest that you also check out the areas mentioned by GiGi and also Lost Creek. Good Luck. If you move to this area I think you will really like it as it has a small town feel and is a very close knit community.

Smile Bee Cave Woods is the Best

Depending on where most of your commutes take you, BeeCave Woods is the best. We have been here 9 years, and the youngest walked to Cedar Creek ES, rode his bike to Hill Country MS, and just graduated from Westlake HS. Living here has made it all so easy. His friends were all around, and seemed to come this way for most of the fun activities - movies together at the mall, etc.
With the gas issues, living close to town is a boon. I swim at Barton Springs almost every day, and have plentyl of places in the neighbourhood to walk my dogs. And best of all we are close to the Westbank Library with all its child-friendly programs.
We're thinking of down-sizing, but want to stay in the area.

Good luck with your search.
Beth
