Hi,

We're moving to Austin at the end of March with our two daughters, age 4 and 6. The 6-year-old will be finishing out the school year at Highland Park Elementary; the 4-year old is currently in a full time pre-K program.

I'm working full time in our current location, but will be moving to part-time after the move. I'd like to find a place for the younger girl to go for a few days a week to continue her Pre-K, and then this summer, I'll need to find either a full-time or part-time summer program for both of them. Can anyone recommend anything? We'll be living in Northwest Hills, near the intersection of 2222 and 360.

Thanks!

You might want to see if there are any openings at Riverbend preschool (Loop 360 and Cedar St., 5 min from the location you mentioned) or at St. Matthew's Episcopal preschool (in Northwest Hills). Both are excellent (part-time) programs and have some summer programs, but not all summer. You might need to look elsewhere if you need something for the whole summer.

I second St. Matthews and also suggest that you check out "the J" the Jewish Community Center in NW Hills. They have great summer programs.

I'd also give a thumbs up for St Matthews, but only for the summer program because their normal Pre-K program had (several years ago anyway, I'm assuming still does) a very long (as in a couple of years) waiting list.

You can also try Spicewood Country School, just off of Old Spicewood Springs and 360 (west side).

Oh, great, thank you. Is it hard to get into the JCC's summer camps? How early would I have to try to reserve that? We'll be arriving in town in late March, and I'd love to check it out in person before I tried to enroll them for the summer program.
