A consideration for relocation from Colorado to Austin is reasonable availability of adult ice hockey (specifically high-intermediate level, but that's probably not very important in the sense of beggars can't be choosers). I've visited the Chaparral ice center, and see on the website they now have only one drop in on Fridays and one night of league play (3 divisions), it looks like adults have been losing the battle for ice time since the two sheet rink closed down last year. This is pretty light compared to the 5-6 days per week I play now, but could be manageable if I could get on a team and always play in the weekly drop-in. I'm not sure if there's huge competition just to step on the ice or get on a roster.

I've searched the surrounding areas for more options, with the idea that driving an hour or so each way is doable. Have I missed anything, or are the only other options in central Dallas or San Antonio?

Excellent, that semi-private morning drop-in is exactly the kind of skate I had in mind, thanks!

Yes, the men's league at Chaparral is ongoing and very popular! Tryouts/evals should be coming up soon for new players (it MAY have already passed), so hopefully you can get yourself on a team.

Have fun!

There are usually two leagues going on at one time, the division league and mixed league. So you have at least two nights of organized team play.
