I've never even heard of Pinkberry and I know California yogurt shops pretty well. It must have sprung up in CA after I left in early 2006.

*Edit* - Wikipedia states that the first store opened in 2005 in West Hollywood so I imagine that it must have taken some time for the franchise to spread around.

I'm always up for trying a new yogurt shop so I welcome it, but there were almost no yogurt shops (just a couple of TCBY's in weird locations) when I moved here in 2006 and now they are everywhere.

I'm not a Californian and can survive without Trader Joe's, but I will admit that it is a fun place to shop whenever I go to San Antonio. HOWEVER, I would NOT have fought the downtown traffic just to go there, so another store without the parking and traffic hassles will be welcomed by me, even if I do have to drive from Cedar Park to get there. It won't be a regular occurrence, but it will be fun once in a while.

I've got the absolutely perfect location for the north TJ's. I won't let the cat out of the bag; but it's the recently abandoned BedBathBeyond next door to Sports Authority . Gosh darn it...that would be excellent...plenty of parking, across 183 from the shiny new HEB, easy access to the highway, nearby nice new apartments full of folks who could actually walk there(more apts and SFH on the way at Northwoods).

Yes, that location even has great visibility from the 183 frontage road.

Speaking of shiny new HEB's, I think Teravista's desirability will see a bit of a boost when the new HEB opens there. Hopefully, it will decrease some of the crowds at the Parmer/1431 location.

That might be too big and too exposed for a Trader Joe's. I'd think the new Trails at 620 development might be more up their alley.

Or the Arboretum area.

Rick, you should seriously email them and suggest that. Who knows...maybe you can get royalties?

I would think one blatantly obvious place for a TJ up north is the current location of Whole Foods. Heck, just the foot traffic from the number of people who didn't realize WF moved would keep the place hopping for months.

I think that would be a karmic coup, should WF actually move out. I'd bet a nickel WF could keep that location open and do just fine.

You've got to think TJ's is shopping real estate deals. I know they love foot traffic and all; but TJ's would be a destination location for MANY customers and could be located in a previously not-so-sexy parcel.

agreed, one challenge is the larger trader joes are around 14K sq ft and that space is 34K sq ft I think. I was reading though that houston has at least one at 20K sq ft and new york city is 40K sq ft, so who knows.

It clearly is the perfect space for a trader joes, plus it is really close to my house
