Just like I suspected - going first for the low hanging fruit of places with pole drops. Might be a while before they get to any neighborhoods with underground utilities.

Exactly what does having google fiber mean, and what is so great about it that has everybody all excited and people outside the region are so envious? How will it make things different? I live in 78745, close to Dittmar Recreation Center, but I don't think we're in the selected area just yet.

Google Fiber is a very fast and reliable internet connection. They are also bundling cable, internet and cloud services. They are offering way better service than what any local cable company is offering with no data caps.
