df175: I totally agree.

RooCeleste and mayfair44: Thanks for the suggestions.

I heard these apts in Hutto do short term leases for the express players:

Apartments & Townhomes for Rent in Hutto, TX near Austin | The Mansions at Star Ranch

Don't know if they'll work with you, they are a nice looking newer complex on the golf course...

That property does look good. Their web site indicates a minimum lease of six months.

I just surfed to the following comment on a related thread from 2.5 years ago. I am not sure if these options are still valid, but thought I had link it here for others' benefit:

I was racking my brain trying to remember a part of town where a friend said they found short term leases... Finally remembered:
Madison at Stone Creek Apartment Rentals
Colonial Village at Quarry Oaks | Austin, TX

The first has a two month lease, the second has a four month lease shown on their website.

Thanks.

I called Madison and they confirmed they can do a 3-month lease (at a higher rent: the web site shows rent for 12-month lease). At the end of the lease (any lease duration), the tenant has the option of renting month-to-month, but the monthly rent will be "market rate" plus $200.

We lived in Archstone Monterey Ranch apartments when we first moved to Austin and back then they definitely had smaller lease terms (albeit expensive!)

However, they have changed management since then and are now IMT Monterey Ranch
Apartment For Rent - Austin TX - IMT Monterey Ranch

--Now living in Pflugerville
