We have crime here...but my area is pretty good...I keep thinking of putting Dallas back in the running...maybe if I am married...and if did...it would be Arlington or in the burbs....somewhere.

Still researching way....while figuring out calendar dates to visit. And for me...commuting is no biggie...I rather telecommute or have a job where I can travel. Diversity, great food, things to do and great people are all important to me.

Tampa will probably be my first road trip for I was planning a stop in South Carolina anyway...and then Texas to visit.

Take Care!
You rule out Houston due to crime, but consider Tampa? You really need to figure out what you're looking for - and then decide how to look, since something has obviously gone wrong.

Just an FYI, The greater Tampa area leads the nation in insurance fraud, mainly driven by organized crime rings. Another FYI, they don't stop at just insurance fraud.

I am aware of the issues in Tampa. We have the same thing over here and for that reason (though awful reasons on my part)...I can handle possibly residing in Tampa more so than Houston. I had 2 potential housemates visiting my place this past weekend....and both were from Houston. Both were born and raised and graduated HS there. Also..both of them said there families both both moved respectfully to Austin and Dallas. They said Houston was fine but Austin is "it" place right now.

I graduated with a degree in Criminal Law ....and after talking with several colleagues and down the network..right now...Tampa is right on part with Austin...only difference: one is city is closer to the water...and the other is a few hours drive from the ocean.

But I hear you...and thanks for your comments. =o)

Yes Austin is the "it" place to be, but it doesnt mean its the RIGHT place to be for everyone. Austin is not known for its criminal law either- Houston and Dallas both have more legal opportunities. And Tampa and Austin have more less in common than just the distance to water.

Dallas and Houston have almost the same crime rates. In fact, it was higher in Dallas for several years, but has since come down.

Exactly! I question how much research he's done and/or if he really knows what he wants.

I have done my research. I have friends, colleagues and friends of friends in all 3 places of interest. Truthfully, it does not matter where you live...crime is everywhere...period! I live in Jersey...for crying out loud. Aside from crime...I am weighing my options. That is why I am on the this board. I also have lived in the Dallas area when I was younger and the same in South Carolina. I love the Orlando area...so I am going to be alright whichever place I choose. Thanks for your input.
