Men wear cowboy boots everywhere in the country and the world and not just to work.
Mr. CSD wears them when we are going out, when he was working he could not wear them to work though.
His profession called for specific boots.

Cowboy boots - aka, western boots - jeans and Stetson hats are endemic everywhere one goes in Texas.

As are running shoes and baseball caps!

I do. Not as much in the summer, but 1 or 2 days a week is common. Didn't have a pair I liked for a long time, resulting in a long boot drought but fixed that last year with a new pair of Luchheses.

Wear whatever you want. Make sure to add a tattoo to the mix though - nothing says "original" like a tattoo - they are very rare in Austin and you will be seen as cool and "hip". If you REALLY want to be original - add a piercing or one of them facial rings/implements that stretch the earlobe or lip to hang down to your pecks. Those are even rarer. For a final originality thing - tight jeans are the rarest of them all. Nothing says "I am hip and I will never be uniform" like tight jeans, unisex androgenous hair style and a set of fake glasses. I have only seen about two people in all of Austin having all of the above in one person. They drove up in a Porsche and the jeans were torn - nothing says modest like torn jeans. Nothing says "original combo" like Porsche and torn jeans - a unique contrast reserved for the coolest. It is really what Texas is all about.

Just a thought since your name includes 'dude'. Females can pull of the cowboy boots with shorts look a LOT better than guys. Guys with boots and shorts...That just ain't right.

I haven't worn cowboy boots since.... 1965?

Know a few guys who wear them to work, but not many. Justin Ropers are pretty comfortable for cold weather wear and go well with a suit. I've got two pairs of those, but ain't got a suit.

Pretty much. At my office, boots, jeans, and a polo is fairly common attire.
