Hi all,
We will have to move to Austin pretty soon, and hope to find a house. I have a hard time finding a good realtor. I have been reading this forum for few months, learn a lot and did try to interview some. However, the ones I interviewed seem to give me the answer that I want. I finally choose one and during the time working with her, there was some positive, but I found out (that I can verify) the advice that was given was not for my interest. As a very novice in house buying process, I feel very overwhelm, and frustrated at times. I think the biggest part of the stress was that I dont have a trusting relationship with my realtor. I hope to find one that can guide me through the process with honesty, and integrity. I also understand that it's going to be my house, and I have to try my best to educate myself as much as possible to make a right decision.
If you have a good experience with your realtor and would recommend him/her to your friend and relative, please help. Thank you very much.

I'm one of those agents that some people don't like to work with because I tell them the truth, not just what they want to hear. It does no one any good to cherry-coat a situation to make it sound better than it is. Sorry to hear you haven't had much luck. There are some of us good ones out there...

Yes, I'm sure there are a lot of good ones out there just like in any trade/profession. I probably did not know where to look, and hoping to get help here.

I'm sure there are many people here who are not agents but who have used them who will be willing to assist you - probably via DM, as recommending agents on the posts, or soliciting business by agents, is against the City-Data TOS.

There are also quite a few good agents on C-D, and if you read their posts, you'll be able to get a good idea of whether or not one of them might be a match for you. Trust is critical in a real estate transaction, as agent and client are working as a team to get something accomplished, and if there's no trust, there's no team.
