Going down to Austin for the weekend next month, and would love a hotel recommendation from ya'll? Prefer to stay in the under $125 range. A B&B would be great too, especially if it has a Austin vibe. Thanks!

Austin, Texas BnBs | Browse and book a unique Austin BB today! | BedandBreakfast.com

It looks like there are some reasonable prices in the SOCO area.

Most Holiday Inn Express have brunch included, but most will be more then $125 after taxes are added.

It looks like there are some good deals downtown on Expedia.com, below your price range. Search Results

if you are ok with a 4*chain hotel downtown, rather than an austiny hotel, you can use biddingfortravel.com to learn how to get free rebids on priceline.

We usually get 4* downtown hotels for under 125 (but not always, depends on if there is an event).

You should go ahead and book a room and then as the date gets closer try priceline bidding.

The basic premise is that priceline only lets you bid once, but there is a loophole. If you add areas you get to bid again. In many areas there are no 4* hotels so you can safely add areas with zero chance of getting a hotel in that area. Using this method you can get 4 or 5 bids in austin (forget exactly how many). If you increment by $15 each bid you will come within $15 of the best possible price on priceline and get a $60 - $80 spread of prices. Biddingfortravel lists the areas and also lists prior successful bids.

What a loophole. I wonder if Priceline somewhat intentionally not close it.

Thanks for the information.

There's a couple of B+B's in Hyde Park that would give you decent access to downtown (though not as good as SOCO).
