In connection with the other thread I have going about things having to do with replacing my roof, I think I need to have an energy audit. None was required when we bought this house just over 2 years ago. Does anyone have a reliable company that they would recommend? I would think it would be best to have a company that does not do any follow-up work, as they would not have a vested interest in their recommendations.

Thanks.

I think the COA has a list of 'approved' ones (or used to) that allowed you to get some credit back if you did the work after the audit.

The City offers some really good financial incentives, rebates on improvements done with through that program.

There is a separate list here of companies certified to do the City energy audits here: About the Energy Conservation Audit and Disclosure (ECAD) Ordinance

The find ECAD Auditors list downloads a pdf file of companies. I have not needed to use one and did not recognize anyone on the list so I can't make any recommendations. It would not surprise me if many of those on the Auditor list don't also perform home improvements, but there is no reason you have use the same company for both.

Go Green Squads has a good reputation in my neighborhood. They do energy audits and also improvements, I do not know of anyone who just does the audits but they might be out there. The report you get is pretty detailed and full of data not sure if there is really any opportunity to "inflate" results.

My usual company was not on the COA list, so I used McCullough - very satisfied with their overall assessment and work.

I guess I should also mention that I applied for one of the loans they offer with Velocity CU and the amount of the rebates were deducted from the overall loan amount.
