So post the schools that meet your criteria. You'll get lots of comments. (& kids don't attend a "district", they attend schools). There are 7-9 very good to great High School feeders in 4-5 DIFFERENT Districts.

Why so cryptic on budget?

THIS!! Since we have no limitation on price! Live in a gorgeous house in NB, send the kids to St. Mary's and rent a vacation home in either SA or Austin for a week or a few days whenever you want.

You got no limits on money, you got no problems!
Except you can't live in Steiner Ranch and expect to drive to NB, that is a non-starter.

no to steiner ranch. But honestly, driving down to NB isn't that bad, if only 3 days a week - as long as you can leave and go at non-peak hours (which on 35, is like 10-1 ) I'd look at neighborhoods on the SW part of town. The ones arelady mentioned, or even Rollingwood or Westlake. esp. Rollingwoood, where you could hop on 360 and then 35. Zilker might work too.

If you lived in Dripping Springs you could drive to NB on beautiful country roads and skip the interstate. I'd have no problem with that drive 3 times a week. Good schools too.

You are right. Same thing for Wimberley.

Thank you so much everyone for all the advises . we decided to look in Westlake , Rollingwood areas, as some of you suggested that. so i am basically looking in zip code 78746 , in Eanes ISD and mostly Eanes Elementry school. today i talked to a realtor in Austin over the phone and she said that None of the Apartment building in this area assigned to Eanes elementry school , and also she said even if i rent a place in this school district it doesn't mean that i can get to one of this school for sure, and it depends that they will accept my application or not ! . is that true ?? and if it is right ,to which school or school district they will send me ? i am so confused now !

that realtor is NUTS, there are apartments that are zoned to EISD!

Use google, go to the EISD website and use their address locator to check the address of any apartments you are interested in, and dump that realtor.

Steiner Ranch is very nice but that commute to NB would be horrible. SW Austin or Circle C would be much better. Eanes would not be completely unreasonable.

Smart move on renting first. Do you know where the job in Austin will be located? That would be useful information. The drive from Westlake to NB isn't going to be a walk in the park either. A family with kids on an unlimited budget, and you are looking at apartments? Different strokes for different folks I guess...
