After being away from Austin (nearly 7 years) and having formerly lived in Austin over 25 years, I was checking on the status of job openings in Austin related to cnc machining or cnc programming. Was pleasantly surprised to see that there are indeed more manufacturing jobs open. Was wondering if the companies that offer those type of jobs are stable? I mean when I moved away 7 years ago, there weren't that many openings in that field. I have two certificates: Machining Technology and Composite Technology. I also have 2 and half years of work experience. I have classroom experience doing cnc programming and would love to do that for a living but would consider doing cnc machining as long as I will not be exposed to fiberglass/foam dust which apparently I'm allergic to (main reason why I quit my job in April). I have only done classroom work on lathe work but was told by my teacher that approximately 85% of my jobs would be on the milling machine but wouldn't mind working as a lathe machinist.
