And only 5% that do both at the same time and notice an impact on either.

Confirmation bias on display.

First, your numbers are wrong. Just because 25% of American homes HAVE an account doesn't nean thst 25% are constantly streaming from it. Latest data shows about 1/3 of EVENING Internet traffic in the US is Netflix - tiny percentage the rest of the day. Just because you have a Netflix account, doesn't mean you are constantly using it.

Second, your gaming numbers are fundamentally flawed. Yes - 90% of kids and 51% of adults play video games. But, that doesn't mean they play all the time - for instance, only 25% of the adult gamers play everyday. Second, not all gaming is in-home, via the home landline Internet connection. The fastest growing segment is wireless tablet or smartphone games. Third, that number includes all games, only a fraction of which are online, real time games. Angry Birds or FarmVille has almost zero bandwidth demand. The guy playing Call of Duty off line is a gamer - with zero bandwidth use.

So, EzP is almost certainly correct - the overlap, at any given moment, even in the evening at peak Netflix demand, between that and on-line, real time landline gaming - console or PC, is probably no more than 5% of households.
