Can DH and I take a small ice chest with a picnic lunch & sodas to Barton Springs?

They only allow water inside the fenced in swimming area. However, there are TONS of picnic spots outside of the fence that you can bring your cooler to.

How funny, when I read the title of this thread, I thought it meant Barton Springs "rules" as in is awesome when it comes to food and drinks....but yeah, no cooler or food allowed.

Now that raises an interesting question. Do they have food concessions in the pool area? I presumed they did not which is why I considered bringing my own food.

The concession stand is not inside the pool area. It's outside. Delicious flavored ice, too!

The website says "drinks" are allowed, does not say that is limited to water.
