Does anyone know a good place to get glyphosate concentrate near Austin? I am looking for the standard 41% product but all I can find in stores is either a pathetic 2% pre-mix or absurdly overpriced 51% roundup-branded concentrate at nearly $100 per gallon.

Bermudagrass laughs at 2% and there is no way I am going to pay that much for an extremely common chemical that I know from talking with family on the farm out of state costs $12 wholesale or $20-25 retail at most. I tried calling up tractor supply but they apparently only had the branded version ($50 per 32 oz). With the number of landscapers in Austin proper and livestock all around I would expect there has to be some place to get the stuff at non-yuppie markup.

Anyone willing to let me in on their secret store?

Have you checked Callahan's, if Tractor Supply doesn't have what you want? Though they might only have the pricey stuff, too. You could check at the numerous local farm supplies in the small towns around the area - if they don't have it, they might be able to order it for you.

Georgetown Farm Supply

The Feed Store, Georgetown

Those are two that I buy feed and such at most often, if not Tractor Supply. There's also

Tri-County Feed & Supply
525 N Highway 95, Elgin, TX 78621
(512) 285-3351

Buck Moore Feed & Pet Supply, Austin

Bastrop Feed & Supply

and every little town around Austin pretty much has their own local feed store in addition to Tractor Supply if they have a TSC.

Bonide has a 41% concentrate in a 1 gal size. Not sure if any of these, while they carry Bonide, carry that particular product, but you could call them and see:

Natural Gardener- 288-6113
Marbridge Garden Ctr - 282-5504
Red Barn Garden Ctr - 335-8093
McIntire's - 863-8243

Thanks for the suggestions! I will have to make a round of phone calls tomorrow.

This xeriscaped yard is just awful now that the previous resident allowed bermudagrass and silver-leafed nightshade to get their rhizomes up underneath the rock and plastic. Kneeling down to yank it up just gives you a shredded knee and the same stuff coming up a week later. If it were up to me I would rip it all up and just go to bermuda turf with meandering mulched beds of native grasses. At least then you can just keep mowing it until the grass mostly chokes out the weeds and the house won't stick out like a sore thumb on the block.
