My wife and I just got back from an amazing 4 day vacation in Austin. We had an absolute blast. We are looking at coming back in early September with our kids (ages 16 and 19). I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on were to stay. We are looking for someplace along a lake that would have boat rentals. I am not a golfer so a golf course is not necessary. We toured Lakeway Resort and Spa and it was very nice but I am wondering if there are others that I should consider. Thank you for any help or advice you have.

This is what I would recommend as well. We stayed there a few times for a weekend getaways when we lived in Austin as my in-laws would come to visit and have tons of Marriott points. Nice golf courses in the area and boat/jetski rentals.

LBJ is a constant level lake which means you won't have Lake Travis issues.

Don't know how much you want to do on Austin. Might make the LBJ option not so attractive.

One thing you could consider is the rentals at the Reserve at Lake Travis. Resort style pool, on site restaurant, marina. Two BRs available. Might call to see if their marina is still in the water.

If you go the LBJ route, I'd rent a condo before I went to the Marriott.

canyon lake isn't too far away, but with any lakes right now, I'd check levels before booking anything

Horseshoe Bay/ Lake LBJ is a great vacation lake, but should let you know it's not in Austin or really even Austin area. It is Central Texas though.

And Hill Country. Everything doesn't have to be IN Austin to be worth the trip. There are some good places to eat around LBJ too.

I would like to thank everyone for their help and input. Has anyone has any experience with The Island Rentals on Lake Travis? The Island on Lake Travis Vacation Rentals Villas and Marina
It looks really nice.
