Greetings.

I'm leaving the US Army and moving to Austin within the next 4 to 6 months for work and continuing education.

I am researching various places to live in Austin and the following neighborhoods have peaked my interest.

Allendale, Brentwood and Crestview.

Was wondering if I could get any input on these and if this would be a good place to live.

thanks

All three are great! But to know which to recommend over another, we need to know more about you. Good luck

Some of the things I'm looking for in a neighborhood
-I like quite, however I want to meet people
-I like outdoors and green spaces
-I also like walkable neighborhoods
-Public transportation an option in case of vehicle issues or high gas prices

the further north you go the less expensive the neighborhood. What price range are you looking at?

Crestview is nice because it is still in the process of gentrifying. I really like it if you can live close to the metro station. I think that will just become more valuable over time.

all the areas you mentioned originally would be great.

Forgot to mention.

I am looking at taking classes at Austin Community College, the Highland Business Center.

Not sure how close this to these neighborhoods, or if this is going to be a drive.

thanks

All of those neighborhoods are very close to ACC Highland. If you're really concerned about public transportation, make sure that you live close to a stop that takes you there. You might want to check out Capital Metro's website and look at all of the buses and schedules -- some run less frequently than others.

I think all of those neighborhoods would be really nice; you're still in Austin proper (North Central), and you can enjoy the flavor of the city without having to deal with the hassle of downtown.

Yup, that's the downside of living in Austin. It's really, really expensive, no matter where you choose to live. Unless you live out of town, like somewhere in Round Rock or Cedar Park. If the OP's concern is transportation, neither of those cities is a good bet.
