Contemplating the possibility of a limo for Prom. Is it over the top? Back in the dinosaur age I cannot recall one person getting a limo ride for Prom, however I thought it would be pretty cool depending on the cost. At the exploration stage and looking for recommendations on a reputable company. I'd like to call and get some prices. Thank you in advance if you have any experience.
While I'm at it...any of you know if the Radisson on 111 E Cesar Chavez has a good restaurant? That is where Prom is for Hutto and I'm looking for a "fancy" restaurant around there too. I have absolutely no experience with "fancy" so any input would be helpful in relation to limo's or a restaurant for Prom.
For the limo - back in my dinosaur age (maybe a different era than yours, not sure ), there were some kids that got limos, but I think they go them as a group - i.e., four couples (more? fewer?) went in together to get one. IF you do get one, make sure they are covered to tip the driver.
Thanks for the laughs and the thoughts, suggestions!
Yeah, having it downtown really doesn't make sense. I was thinking maybe the organizer has some kind of kick back...but I'm cynical.
The limo does seem over the top to me and I am in the process of talking to other parents...I've been procrastinating on this thing so I'm finally moving on it. "Maybe" if they all went in on it...then...and only then.
I'm liking that "no couples, no limos, no downtown hotels" mode. Best way to go! I'm surprised they didn't do it that way here after the Valentine's day dance was a flop. Hutto had to cancel because not enough people bought tickets....which struck me.
Limos are fun because you don't have to worry about them getting lost, finding a parking spot, speeding, drinking, etc...
When I went to prom, umpteen years ago (our 20 year reunion is in September), we had 4 couples, 8 of us in the limo. The cost was split evenly. Also, the tip was already added in, as I think most of the companies do that on nights like prom where they think the kids might not know to tip, so you need to ask if they will include the tip or if tip is in addition to the price they quote.

They just replaced the TGI Friday's in there with a cutting edge place from Shawn Cirkiel - owner of Parkside/Backspace and Olive & June. It is fantastic - edgy Southwestern, called "Chavez".
I graduated in 1990 (stone age), and lots of people got limos. We went in with a group of friends, so the price was very reasonable. If there will be drinking, it is definitely the best option.
As far as restaurants go, if you want to get really fancy, Trio at the Four Seasons is right next door. Also Second Bar and Grill is nearby. Both are great restaurant options.

This is what I did for senior prom. Most kids shared limos. Had the limo to pick us up and take us to prom, then had it all night after; drove up to San Francisco, down to Santa Cruz along Highway 1, ate at Denny's and then back home at 7am.
Hard to believe but there was no alcohol and no funny business other than standing up through the sunroof while flying down PCH. We were those kids.
Thanks for more tips. No, there will not be drinking.
I was a bit flabbergasted to find out the tickets were $120 for a couple and that doesn't include food. Whaaaat?
