Looking for housecleaning and lawn care recommendations - anyone have recent experiences and can recommend? Also, about how much does everyone pay for these services in this area? Just trying to get an idea. Thanks in advance.

Prices can vary a lot, along with the quality, for both services.

Housecleaning - we pay $100 every other week and have an individual do the cleaning/linens for a 2,400 sf house. She is there 4-5 hours, typically. American citizen and had her for years. I think you can get much cheaper, but nice to have the same person every time (as opposed to a service). She is currently booked-up, though, and has been doing some of my co-workers' houses for 10+ years (ours for seven! How time flies!). Cost will be lower for weekly, but more payments, obviously.

Lawn - Also all over the board, we have been through a lot of one-man shops, but they tended to be very unpredictable in quality/reliability. Went with Austin Landscape Design for years - they were $100/month for our big yard (corner lot) on a one year contract basis (you could get out of the contract, but they would prorate out the costs based on load of services, not the $100/month). They mowed, trimmed, weeded, raked, and fertilized on a regular schedule and they tended to have the best oversight - if something was wrong, they would get it fixed. We stopped some years ago and are doing it ourselves again. The independent guys tended to quote our yard from $35 to $45 a month some years ago, on a 'as mowed' basis.

Try Dream Lawns, which is a local, Circle C outfit. <dreamlawnsofaustin@gmail.com> They are inexpensive for me, but I have a small yard.

Bringing this thread back to life, I am looking for a house cleaner in the Circle C area. I prefer the use of low toxicity cleaners. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Individual cleaners (as opposed to companies) will almost always use whatever you buy for them.....

I'm sure that's true, but I don't know any individual cleaners. That's why I am hoping for some referrals.

That is often true; but some of the most popular 'green' cleaners have so many extracts and essential oils that some folks are actually allergic. We had to use some of our Seventh Generation cleaners on our own...the ladies cleaning the house couldn't stand the smell! (Actually, I hate the natural cleaners that rely on lavender....yuck!!!)
