Downtown. Lavaca & 16th. There is a HUGE "official crosswalk" sign facing oncoming traffic (not pictured). This is epidemic in Austin. (correction--didn't load, wrong format)

It's not online, therefore has no URL.

You can always upload it to youtube for free and then link to it. You can't delete a post once someone has responded to it. Prior to that you can edit the post, which includes a delete option.

We have this problem in Chicago too, people not stopping at crosswalks for pedestrians. While in Austin last year was the first time I saw a sting operation of cops pulling over people who didn't yield to pedestrians at marked crosswalks. This year in Chicago, we had signs similar to what I saw in Austin installed at several crosswalks around the city, one right outside my apartment. I was excited to see these, since it's been a law here for awhile but was never inforced.

Flash forward to today, most of these signs have actually been run over by cars, are ignored and I've actually seen cops sitting at intersections doing nothing as cars speed past me while I'm in the middle of the crosswalk right next to one of these signs. They're not effective, because the majority of drivers still don't know it's a law to stop to pedestrians already in the crosswalk and it's not actually being inforced by cops. I'm not sure if Austin police are still doing sting operations there, but when I was there the drivers being pulled over were pretty surprised by the law.

I ran into this a couple of times lately where the driver is trying to make a right turn on red but there is too much traffic. Meanwhile I'm waiting for the walk signal to turn for crossing the road. The light turns green and the walk signal comes on at the same time, but the driver who has only been looking to his left doesn't notice either one and turns right, right into me making a legal crossing.

I can't wait for driverless cars. Humans are too unreliable and no amount of enforcement and education is going to change that.

I wonder if the driverless cars will have a self-involved-jerk mode?
