OK, all this talk of PTerry's prompted me to stop by the newly opened drive-thru only location off of 183 between Oak Knoll and Duval. I'd say that their burgers are def a step above the big 3, Whataburger, and In-n-Out. Not as good as Elevation Burger, 5 Bros and not nearly as good as Mighty Fine or Fudd's (I will naturally favor places that have thicker patties and will cook to order). Fries were good. I was surprised by how cheap it was and I could certainly see why it's very popular. The new location was absolutely packed even around 2:00pm (almost backed up onto 183, just what that location needed).

Is it really a fair comparison to rate a $3 burger and $1.50 fries against a $6 burger and $2.50 fries (Elevation)? It is almost like there are three tiers - fast food (big 3, PTs, I&O, SS, WAB, Top Notch, and Dan's on the high end), mid tier - (5 Guys, MF, Elevation, Phil's, Fudd's), and the restaurants - (Roaring Fork & Hopdoddy - cousins that they are, Cover 3, the League, Casino El Camino, Black Sheep, etc.).

I go to each with very different expectations, and don't expect the same thing just because the same word is on the menu.

Mighty Fine is my favorite among the new establishments we have around here now, but nothing will ever replace the charcoal grilled perfection of a Top Notch burger.

Dan and austinnerd, totally agree with you guys. Elevation Burger is clearly better. I think P Terry's is over-hyped, though would eat them over Big 3.

I think their burgers are pretty good. I think they're as big as a burger should be. When I go to P Terry's, I'm usually on my lunch break from work. I hate to get stuffed plum full and then have to go back to work. And I love their root beer milkshakes. I also like it they give free doggie biscuits for the dogs. I always get some for my neighbors dog. He loves 'em.

One day I was driving down the road on my way back to work and I spilled black coffee all over the front of my shirt. I stopped at P Terry's because I remembered they sold t shirts there. The guy at the counter just gave me a T shirt for free. He turned me into a loyal customer.

Aside from their food, I like it that around every Christmas time, there's a day they give every dime they make at every P Terry's on that day to charity.

In all good conscience, I can't really complain too much about P Terry's.

If you think P Terry's is a step above Whataburger then you clearly are a communist and I will make note of your comment and store it in my files... P Terry's burger is about as big as a Shortstop burger, which is similar in price, but differs greatly on grease percentage.

I could be mistaken, but it seems I read in American Statesman a while back that the person who owns P Terry's also owns Mighty Fine. Stands to reason, they both have hand squeezed lemonade and delicious milk shakes that taste very similar.

K&N Management owns MF, and is the local licensee for Rudy's. Patrick Terry owns P Terry's.

P Terry is a great fast food burger. Better than McD's, Burger King, etc. Real fresh cut fries. For the value can't be beat. Not the best burger in town but it's not trying to be.
