I know it gets really, really hot in Austin as well as Dallas(family member just moved to Dallas). I was wondering if people have to get exterminators to come and spray monthly. I assume that there are alot of bugs in Texas!!

I don't know anyone who gets sprayed monthly. Some of my friends in newer communities (Steiner Ranch, etc) have gotten some sort of package through their builder where they get sprayed 3x/year for about $350. I've hired an 'organic' exterminator approx. once per year (about $180) for the past few years (since we moved back here from Chicago.)

Bugs don't really bother me though, except for fire ants and mosquitos!

External, once a quarter. They will come inside if we want, but they have done such a good job outside that we never see anything in the house.

And yes, there are a lot of bugs here.

Once a quarter but we've had them come twice in between (they do this free of charge) when the ants were getting out of hand.

In almost 15 years at my current home in a semi-rural area we have had an exterminator only twice. We had ants some time ago and we couldn't get them under control through normal methods.

I prefer not to have any regular use of pesticides in my home or outside my home. No roaches - maybe because we have a few scorpions.

I spot treat outdoors for fire ants with Amdro. And sometimes I need some wasp spray. That's it.

Yes, we have enormous cockroaches here that many people don't enjoy seeing in their homes, so they tend to get exterminators to take care of the issue. Once a quarter is often more than enough.

Most people in my neighborhood are using pest control. The roaches can be a problem if you let them. Our exterminator does 5 times a year spraying and does as needed spraying inside if necessary. Outside is usually enough.

We spray the yard and the exterior of the house every 3 months in the cooler months and monthly throughout the summer months. We treat the dog with flea meds every 3 months and so far, this has kept the bugs out of the house entirely.

We have had a couple of fire ant spots pop up this fall that we are dealing with and will call in the experts if needed.

We do fine only calling an exterminator every couple of years when we find a problem we can't handle ourselves, and for an occasional termite inspection. Fire ants are easy to control yourself with Ambro.

It's Ants, only Ants are the problem. Diamescus earth, food grade, works really well indoors.
