Here in LA it's all "Happy Holidays!" Drives me nuts.
I think the real issue here is having someone tell you what you can and cannot say.

Being PC is HUGE in CA...I say Merry Christmas whether I'm in Austin or CA!!

I say Merry Christmas. In fact, it is Christmas time, otherwise the "holiday" wouldn't even exist. Am I missing something? Next thing you know, we'll see signs for places selling "Holiday Trees", and we'll hear carolers singing "On the first day of Holiday, my true love gave to me...". It's Christmas, and it's just a word.

But I don't have a gripe with people who say Happy Holidays either. I think you should say whatever represents and expresses the spirit and good will you feel and wish to share, not what you think others want to hear.

My wife just spent most of today and will spend most of tomorrow personally delivering Christmas Wreaths to local clients for their front doors. They're really nice, high quality wreaths that we purchase in bulk, and we've never had anyone complain or say "come get this beautiful thing and take it back, we're jewish".

Okay, unless we stay Austin related, this needs to continue in either the general or religion forum .

I don't venture into Austin too much but folks I deal with north of and east of Austin say "Merry Christmas".

Maybe Austin is a little too PC these days ??
