We had a voluntary separation offered in Dec.

Dell confirms layoffs, which are much smaller than you

Dell says it will be 2-3k, most likely.

Nope, no email was sent out but it's true nonetheless! When you can't reach that one person in upper-mid levels anymore, you know where they went!

I don't think there are 15,000 upper mid-levels, though....

I know of an ol' co-worker I used to work with at Dell back in the late 90s. To this day (14 years later) he's a project manager for a programming team and he does even know basic C++, Java or any other basic programming skills (does not do it) and clears 6-digit salary (never went to college either). I say that this practice is pretty common @ Dell and don't get it sometimes. His salary can be two people salary.

Maybe he is good at managing the team?
