I don't generally tip people who work on the house, but I do try to be kind to them (lemonade, cookies) and I have on occasion tipped. Like the time the tree trimmers took out a 40 foot crepe myrtle for me free of charge, just to be nice. That time, I gave each guy (4 of them) and $20. I also give my gardeners a Christmas "tip." But I have had plenty of service people who just do an adequate job, or even ones I have to be out there complaining for them to do it right. No tip for them.

I ordered pizza for the crew that was replacing my windows last summer, they seemed happy with that. I can't tip each worker though, so lunch seems easiest and fairest.
