My brother and i are going to be moving to Austin from upstate Ny. We're looking to rent a house, not only for the space but mainly because we would like to be able to make some noise. He and i are musicians and currently recording our album form home. I just want to find a place where playing some drums between 1pm and 5pm isn't a problem.

So i was wondering about some good sources to use to find a place that may fit our criteria (2Bd, for less then 800/m)

I would say that is a near impossibility.

Check craigslist, tho.

The only houses you'll get for $800 mo are probably in the not very nice parts of town. Also, very few people who work will enjoy listening to drums during what's considered sleeping hours.

I thought there was a breakdown there.
Or someone has a very long afternoon naptime.

That could have been found about 15 years ago but not today.

I've seen some places on craigslist that looked promising. I just wanted to try to use another sources. What do you think the cheapest i could get a little house for? i don't mind being somewhat out of city but within a 1/2 hour drive.

You should drive or ride a bike around the neighborhood that you'd like to live in. Sometimes people rent houses without advertising. They just put a sign up.

Expect to pay at least $1,200 to rent a house. Even in a crappy neighborhood.
