We've seen one black widow, in the house, and one very large tarantula the night we moved in. It was walking across the driveway. We always look for him but haven't seen him since.

Never seen a brown recluse or black widow in 14 years in Austin. I used to see the occasional tarantula crossing Quinlan Park Road when I lived at the base of Steiner down by the spa, but thankfully, never inside! In SW Austin, I find scorpions in my garage sometimes and hate those things with a passion. I got stung twice a few summers ago, two weeks apart, and it really hurts.

The only Black Widow I've seen in Austin was in a library branch book depository - when I went outside one evening to remove the books that had been dropped in it. That was about 1964.

Never have seen one in my house, garage, or shed. But then again - I use a bug fogger a couple times out there to discourage critters from moving in.

Never have seen a Brown Recluse. Don't go lookin' for them though.

Had one scorpion in the house right after we built it 19 years ago, and that's it.
