On Spence St in East Austin someone put up a homemade 'handicapped only' parking sign in front of their house. Some of the homes(not sure about that one in particular) do not have driveways on the front, so I guess they thought this would be a good solution.

Near Fiesta Gardens on Chicon St there is one resident who puts out orange cones in the parking restricted (7AM-7PM) bike lane to preserve "his spot." The irony of blocking someone else from parking illegally so you can is pretty funny.

Well, it is customary to do just that in Mexico. We live in a multi-cultural society so something that seems reasonable to one person might not be to another. Viva la difference!

The law is the law and we can't have a million different exceptions. Sorry but "When in Rome do as the Romans do."

I'm one of those who gets annoyed with my neighbors who park their cars all around the gang-box on the street, and I have to park my car further up the road, get out and walk to get my mail, because of the "crowd" of cars parked all around it. Gets on my nerves...but apparently there are more important things to worry about.

Don't even get me started on having to stop for all those octagonal red signs...such a waste of MY time.
The what now? Do I need to download an app to get those to show up on my iPhone screen? I mean like everyone else that's where I'm looking while I am driving around Austin.

When I called the city about my mail kiosk parking problem I asked about curb painting, which he said they seldom do. He said they really only paint red curbs for fire zones. I said that I have a fire hydrant across the street from me and that there is no red curb around it. He said no, they don't do that in neighborhoods because "everyone knows you can't park within 15 feet of a hydrant." I don't think so. I see people parking closer than that all the time.

Yep...got a neighbor one block away who lines his front bumper up with the hydrant every day.

Is it illegal to park in your driveway and leave your car sticking out so that it blocks the sidewalk? It should be. I lived in a neighborhood where 90% of the residents did it, effectively making the sidewalk unusable, especially for people pushing strollers, walking dogs, or in wheelchairs.

Yes, it is against the law.
