Hi our family's planning a move to downtown this summer and would like to know your thoughts on kid freindly neighborhoods near downtown. We would like to be as close to downtown as possible and we have a 9 10 yr old girls and a one year old son. Schools are not that important as we plan on home school or looking into charter schools but feel free to recommend any areas with particularly good schools. Our budget is anywhere from $2000 to $3,000 for a 3x2 house preferably or any aptarrments recommendations are welcome too! We want to be able to walk places as well as be around activities for the kids. Thanks in advance for your time!

A house in the area immediately south of the river should work, Zilker, Barton Hills, Bouldin, or Travis Heights neighborhood.

I did a search but most posts were from 2010 and I'm sure lots had changed in the downtown area since then. I more so wanted to know if there are any families currently living in these areas now that can give feedback on what it's like to live near downtown

Sure Tarrytown is an excellent area, very pricey however with limited number of rentals, any SFH in Tarrytown will rent for above $3K but you might find an apartment or condo for rent in that range.

Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time to reply I saw Tarrytown online and like that it was vegeterian friendly! We have just started looking at places and have a rough idea of the area we would like but would also like to stay within our budget as our move stems from wanting to be closer to culture as well as saving money. We currently own a home in Cedar park and the upkeep is just too much not to mention our bills every month are outrageous. Ideally we want a community with a pool and even considered apts/condos since most include free wifi pool fitness center so it's worth the money for us but I've found a lot of places near downtown are
Catered more towards the college crowd as in very small room roommate style and not sure how that would go. Really appreciate your feedback I've read a few of your other posts as well that have been helpful
