1. What is the traffic like around campus during the semester?

Very heavy. Most people just ride bikes to class, walk, or use the bus system. If you want to drive, be prepared for traffic and paying for parking spots.

2. Is it usually very hard to find parking spots?

Not hard if you are willing to pay a lot of money per month to get a parking permit. If you ride your bike, you can park it on the racks for free. The city bus system/UT shuttle system are free to ride for UT students.

3. How are the professors?

There are a lot of excellent professors at UT which is a big part of what makes it such a renowned school. Some professors aren't as enthusiastic though and care more about their research than teaching classes. Check out this website for ratings: Rate My Professors – Review Professors and Teachers, School Reviews, College Campus Ratings

4. Anyone on here gone to the Mccombs school of business?

No I did not, I went to the College of Natural Sciences.

It's not impossible to live in the suburbs and be a full-time UT student because that's EXACTLY what I do. I've also met many other students who do the same thing. It's much more common now because of how Austin has grown. More students have grown up in Austin and already live here with their families than ever before. I commute to campus every morning and pay about $600/year to park in one of the parking garages. It's that simple. Even with paying for parking and gas, it is still a good way to save money for your future while going to one of the best schools in the country!

...And I don't feel like I'm missing out on the things that the university has to offer because I'm always on campus. I'm never home, and I drive a lot. It's not as big of a deal as people on here are making it seem.

I graduated in the mid-nineties. I didn't live on campus. No big deal. You'll find a parking solution. Back then I parked at Disch-Falk Field and took the shuttle in. I transferred into the School of Business. You will need a high GPA. Compared to junior college it's very competitive.

Interesting. I would pay that much.

Are the garages ever full to the point where you cannot find a place to park? Is it possible to get a reserved spot?

I park in the Brazos garage (one of the busiest), and I've never had a problem with finding a place to park. I don't think you can get a reserved spot in the garages, but I'd call and ask just to make sure.

I may do that, thanks.

My fear is paying the money and not having a spot.
