I'm going to take this pretty long trip in a short while and I'm wondering if anyone has advices of which route to take, any sightseeing along the way, etc...

Planning to make a stop for the night around New Orleans, and passing over the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway ...anything else worth stopping or reroute my GPS?

Thank you in advance

That's one boring drive. Not a ton to see. I loathe the Atchafalaya bridge!

Not much. If you like history, maybe the USS Alabama in Mobile. Possibly the Jefferson Davis Home in Biloxi on US90.

There's a rest stop in Louisiana which has some nature walks around the swampland (on a boardwalk).

Other than that...not really.

If you're going to NW Florida, it is much easier to go north of the lake through Baton Rouge, not New Orleans. That is a long, boring drive...sorry you have to do it. There's a cute town just east of Mobile called Fairhope if you want to stop somewhere and walk around. Other than that, can't think of anything other than dbbd's suggestions above. How far into NW Florida will you be going? I wouldn't even stop for the night...just get the drive over and get to your destination (hopefully, a beach).

There is good eating to be had in Lafayette Louisiana! that is for sure!

We usually enjoy the drive (and go through Baton Rouge to save time), LSU stadium is quite something. We mainly just kick back and enjoy the scenery as we drive. It is quite pretty but not much to see or do.

Once you leave TX, it actually becomes pretty. I love driving the raised highway over the mossy swamp in LA. Was in Baton Rouge on Saturday.

I cannot believe those saying it's boring; clearly none of you have driven across Texas much.... It actually went from unattractive to interesting within minutes of the TX/LA line.

The more I drive across TX into other states -- in all directions -- the more I realize how unattractive TX is... which is only intensified due to it's size.

I'd swing south on 90 at Lafayette, through Morgan City and into NoLa. Fun stop on the way is at Avery Island, the home of Tabasco. They have great tours, especially if you are a foodie. Have lunch at the Bon Creole Lunch Counter in New Iberia before the tour.

This. It has been years, but when my children were younger, we made several drives to Disney World. I made the trip I think 4 times. We always stopped in Mobile, you have not just the USS Alabama, but unless I am mis-remembering, I think there is an aircraft museum there.

As far as route, just take 290 into Houston, get on 10, and take 10 almost the entire way. You save time if you switch to 12 in Baton Rouge until you pick I10 back up around Slidell Louisiana.

You are already into Florida at this time, but if you wanted another stop in Pensacola there is a nice air museum there as well, and some decent beaches. Not sure where your ultimate destination is though.
