What do you love about it?

Are you enamored with the idea that families will suffer crushing financial ruin?

Do you get all hot and bothered by the thought that you are smarter than these folks who are paying too much for a house?

Please explain your affection.

No one relishes paying a lot of money for a house. Well, almost no one. Anyway, you think it's inflated now - perhaps in 5 years people will be looking back at today's prices as a time they should have jumped in.

What makes you think the winner of a multiple offer competition for a particular home is an "idiot"?

What label do you assign losing bidders, "genius"?

Steve

This is a rather silly response. Austin may go flat in a few years, but I wouldn't expect a big decrease in house prices. If you stay in your house long enough, you should see a profit. All real estate is a gamble. But, you making a joke out of it is just ridiculous.

Since we have no plans to sell our home for at least a decade, all this inflation in home prices does is inflate my property taxes. The property taxes on our house increased 10% this year over last and wouldn't be surprised if that trend continues for years.

Apparently, some people really enjoy living in Austin. Others don't. Funny world, huh?
