What about walking and texting? Is that already illegal? It's distracted.

The only morons out there are those who don't program their GPS before they leave.

Bonus: There's this newfangled thingy called a HANDS FREE DEVICE. People all around this great country are using them including in the three STATES (not just a city) where this already law exists.

Bonus bonus: Pull. Over. To. Inform. Your. Directionally-challenged. Self.

Triple Bonus: You don't have time to pull over? Therapy can help you.

Staring at GPS on your cellphone is just as (if not more) distracting . You have it backwards: They would have been idiots to exempt it.

You cannot USE the device--when it is programmed doesn't matter.

edit: Bonus--there is NO evidence that hands free devices are associated with lower rates of accidents.

Adjusted edit: OK, it looks like the ban is holding it in your hand at all. Have to see how the ordinance is actually written to see if they included passive use of apps while driving.

"Use of navigation devices, digital music players and other portable electronics while driving will also become illegal."

Well, one of the things I frequently hear in Texas, (never heard it before anywhere else) is "you can't fix stupid." (which I always found interesting especially when I saw educational ratings compared to other states) So here goes the logic... If people are not smart enough to put down their cell phone while driving a vehicle then a law has to tell them what to do because obviously "you can't fix stupid"...well, unless you make a law. lol On the other hand that doesn't stop it all the time either...guess it's true then.

OMG, whats next?? Will they now try to enforce the don't drive drunk law???? "The horrors!!"

I seriously have run out of room to plant another tree.
