Hello all

We have just moved from Colorado and are renting an apartment here in Round Rock. We are also bringing our vehicle which was registered in Colorado, we paid all taxes there.

While registering our vehicle here, would we have to pay taxes again? I was reading that 6.25% sales tax would apply - does it also include vehicles for which taxes are already paid?

If you do a search, you'll find a number of threads discussing the very topic you mention. The links are very helpful as they explain the process for DL and vehicle registration...and the order to be followed.

Short answer to your question...IF you paid a sales tax or use tax of 6.25 % or more in CO, you will not pay those taxes again in Texas. You will pay a 'welcome to Texas' fee in the neighborhood of $90 plus registration fees to get your tags. IF you paid less than 6.25 %, you will pay the difference based on the value of the vehicle.
