I was wondering if there are any garages/lots near campus where I could keep my car? I don't want to pay any more than $40/month so I can't afford to park in my apartment's lot... :/

I pay around $600/yr to park my car in a garage on campus. Unfortunately, parking in and around UT is NOT cheap.

ROFLOL!! I was a grad student at UT a million years ago, I paid $600 a semester just to have a place to park my car. And do you know what that lot is now? A huge apartment building!

You won't find anything for $40 a month! Sell your car and use the $ for cabs, bus pass, and Cars2go!

Thanks for the responses guys. I should clarify that I don't care if the parking is THAT close to campus... As long as I could get to my car in a ~20 min bus ride...

well, check out the Cap Metro route map, 20 minutes is not a very long ride, and plot something out. Should be doable. Hope this is not a fancy car. Lock it tight. Good luck.

If you're cool with being 20 minutes from campus, find some friends in Hyde Park or North Campus that don't have restrictive parking situations or park on the street. Also, look into the UT Buy/Sell/Trade/Free Facebook page. There have been some people advertising parking spots for around that much.

you might be able to park at one of the park and ride stations like lamar/183 and take the bus up there, maybe northcross mall at airport and 51st

I would check out the bus routes and then pick the closest place with the most bus routes.

ACC has permits for $15. A class at ACC is a few hundred bucks, and many are offered online. They have parking at Rio Grande (less availability) and at Highland. Their rules require you to move your car every five days. Just a thought if you're willing to jump through the hoops. You would probably have to talk to an academic advisor about the situation.
