Well...
A) that wasn't an answer so you shouldn't of given a response.

B) if you are going to go on a tangent about how awesome living in Austin proper is I could careless and have 0 interest in living in Austin proper.

So that was productive.

Don't ask a question if you aren't willing to see the answers.

I voted Leander but Cedar Park works as well.
We looked at homes in both Leander and Cedar Park, two of the Cedar Park homes we considered are about a mile from where we ended up in Leander.

Why?
Well, at the time I was commuting to Marble Falls so staying to the west was a priority. I now commute to Round Rock and its still a very easy commute. I would not want to live here if I had to deal with the Mopac or I-35 southbound morning commute.

We targeted a specific high school and that kept our search very narrow.

Been here for a year and a half, we love it. Love the school system, love our neighborhood and our access to anything we could really want. We have Dr's, a hospital, a new Costco, several HEB's although I admit I like the HEB in Round Rock the best, we have movie theaters, Lakeline Mall nearby, a Trader Joes, a plethora of restaurants and assorted shopping.

I love the Cedar Park Bark Park for our doggie, its a wonderful facility and I like that we are not rows and rows of houses for miles on end. There are hills and open undeveloped land all around us. I think the Leander area is the prettiest.

I've only driven through Hutto on my way to Taylor - it seemed very rural, almost farmlike and flat without a lot of the trees that one still see's in CP and Leander.

For city amenities, I think CP has a bit more including a bigger/better library and a community center with gym etc. CP has 3 pools while Leander only has 1. Those are a few of the IMO minor differences between the two cities.

You asked, and I quote:

Where would you rather live?

Atex simply gave their opinion. Maybe they prefer Lago or GTown.

I asked where would you rather live out of the following options. If you don't like the choices than maybes its best not to answer. Its almost a response to agitate people who prefer these areas.

Welcome to the Internet. Topics on discussion forums are fluid and a forum is an exchange of opinions and viewpoints. A person may start a thread but he/she does not own or control it. That would be the purpose of a personal blog.

We also bought a house in Leander. Only one goes into Austin to IBM 2 days a week. Easy to get to the lakes..even Lake Belton,Lake Buchanan, Travis. We wanted Leander Isd so we moved here in 07 for the two kids. Pretty much like the other post , close to everything still easy to get away.

Can't go wrong with either Cedar Park or Leander. I just moved from CP to Leander. The houses in Leander are a bit more affordable in Leander. Cedar Park is about built out and there are not as many new housing plans being built. Leander has more open land and is increasing it's population like crazy. I read that there are plans for 20,000 new houses to be built in the next ten years.
It is hard to figure out where Austin ends and Cedar Park starts, the same with CP and Leander.
