Texas Chili Parlor

A much better local specialty than the barbecue

I can't imagine anyone from out of town eating at Threadgill's and saying "wow that was a good restaurant." Nothing special about that place except history.

As much as I like Torchy's I would go to Matt's El Rancho for a Mexican meal. That place reeks Austin, hasn't changed, and still serves up really good Tex Mex.

Sway is awesome high end Thai. Not sure it is a lunch place.

Hula Hut - fun still and a great place all day by the lake

Or go to Rainey street and a place like Bangers Sausage House and Beergarden.

Agreed, I really like Matt's. Nice location too.

Hula Hut does have excellent food, but I'd give the nod to Matt's.
