looking for good child care for my 2 year old boy. open for any kind of program: half time/full time, half day/full day

the school we have toured: JCC, like it but not sure if we can fit in the school (and culture) well as a non-jew asian family. my friend's house, like the low teacher/students ratio, long waiting list 1-2 years right now. leaps and bounds, they are getting new classrooms and teachers this spring, 1to11 teacher/students ratio seems a little bit high for me...

any suggestion will be welcome!

We are non-Jewish, had our son at the JCC for his entire day care experience, and can recommend it unreservedly. In fact, he went back for summer camp after his Kindergarten year and will go back again this summer as well.

There are many non-jewish families who send their kids there and rave about it.

Same can be said for St. Matt's. St. Matthew

In fact, I would say that those two are the standout preschools in that area, regardless of religious affiliation.

And Magellan of course for PreK and up. Magellan International School: Home

agree with the other posters. My kids go to JCC summer camps and love it and we are not Jewish. My sister's kids go to St. Matt's and are not religious at all and love it.

Be aware the JCC has a long waiting list and also they are closed on Jewish holidays. May or may not fit your work schedule.

First Presbyterian Day School at Mesa and Spicewood Springs is a sweet little school. My son went there for one year right after we moved to Austin. It was the only place I could find a spot actually, as St Matthews (it was highly recommended) was full and we had just a short time to find something, it was his last year before Kindergarten.

They had a turn over of administration at the time and I think some families left and that's why there was an opening. So not sure how hard it is to get into now. It's pretty small. We loved the director, I believe she is still there. The ratio was 1:6 or 7, 2 teachers in each class.

Great play ground, multi-cultural celebrations/days, family socials/events. The 2 teachers we had were very qualified.
