If you haven't been to the Tenement Museum you must make time...I plan on taking our two kiddos in a couple years when the younger one will better comprehend the tour and just how shockingly easy our lives are in comparison.

One gets a real jolt standing in the small darkened rooms and having the names of the 7 or more individuals that lived there read from the census.

That sounds like a must-do next time I'm in NYC. Most recently was for a Real Estate conference during the snow blizzard, so I wasn't able to get out and see much at all on my first time there. My wife and I plan to go visit the NE this October though.

I used to own a couple of small 1/1 condos at the Railyard complex downtown that I rented out for $725/month in 2000. Anybody know how much they would go for now? I regret selling them. Wish I'd kept one.

I paid $325 at Duval st and 51st for a 2 bedroom house, fenced backyard and garage. Granted it was on the flight path. As in, hold on the plane is going over, as you were saying? When I finally moved out in 95, it had gone up to $425 and the planes were gone. My neighbors rent had doubled, but I had the greatest landlord Mr. Watts. Loved him. In 94 we bought 10 acres in Dripping Springs for $25,000. Wish we would have bought more!
